United Cup Day 2: Immortals and Fenix stay unbeaten

Atlanta BC - Costa Rica 70-61

Very significant game was Costa Rica (0-2) loss against Atlanta BC (1-1) 61-70. It was an exceptional evening for American player Marquis Barnes (183-PG-1986, college: Gordon CC) who led the winners with a hot hand by scoring 23 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The Costa Rican club trailed most of the game but found away to stay close. Costa Rica guard DeJon Waters Jr. (190-G-1997, college: Pitt St.). came up with a solid game by scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds in the defeat.

GIE Cibao Immortals - BC Uprise 75-48
The hosting GIE Cibao Immortals (2-0) dominated start to finish in a win over BC Uprise (0-2). The Dominican club looked amazing with a 75-48 win Wednesday night. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Edwin Espinal (198-F-1993) who had 14 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 blocks. James Milton (203-F-1992, college: Stevenson) continues to be a big time performer. He chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals!! Adris Rodriguez added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the win. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Keyon Rainey who recorded 9 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds in a losing effort.

Belize - Fenix 61-59
The final game of the Wednesday night was Belize verses Fenix. Belize was defeated by Fenix 61-59. Belize dominated the game with very aggressive defense in the first half! They also outrebounded the Dominicans 40-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great day for Dominican guard Jefry Arias (182-G-1997) with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Fellow Dominican Juan scored 14 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Jamell Harris (208-F/C-1991, college: EMU) by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in a losing effort.
