Uprise Fenix - Santiago Basket 54-44


Very significant game was Uprise Fenix (#4, 1-1) victory against Santiago Basket (0-2) 54-44. It was an exceptional evening for American player Myah Taylor (178-F-1997, college: Bethel, TN) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 rebounds (!!!), 21 points and 3 assists. Her fellow American Jessica Fairweather (178-G/F-1989, college: Queens, NY) accounted for 14 points and 4 rebounds for the winning side. Santiago Basket import guard Porsche Poole (175-SG-1989, college: Michigan St.) came up with a solid game by scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds in the defeat.

Hidalgas de Santiago - Denver Dynasty 46-42


The hosting Hidalgas de Santiago (2-0) escape with a win over Denver (0-2). The Dominican club looked looked sluggish after a great start; but managed with a 46-42 win Friday night. The best player for the winners was Dominican forward Jennifer Pena (176-G/F-1993, college: Missouri S&T) who had a good game by scoring 11 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocks. Yadira Polanco (177-G/F-1992) saved Hidalgas with her star play on defense. She chipped in 2 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals!! Toccara Ross (184-F-1986, college: Iowa St., agency: LBM Management) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the win. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Calisha Clark who recorded 12 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds in a losing effort.

Flint Monarchs - Florida Heat 46-43

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Florida Heat (1-1) in Sameji on Friday night. The Heat were defeated by Flint Monarchs (2-0) 46-43. The Monarchs were saved by late game heroics by Crystal Bradford (183-F-1993, college: CMU)! They also outrebounded Florida 50-41 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Asia Boyd (185-F-1992, college: Kansas) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. American guard Jasmine McCall (170-G-1987, college: WSU) continues her great all around play at point guard with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Becca Wann by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Jayneisha Davis (170-G, college: Messiah) also sparked the defending champions scoring 12 points in a losing effort.
