Florida Heat - Denver D 63-51


Very significant was defending champion (#1, 1-0) victory against Denver Dynasty (0-1) 63-51. It was an exceptional evening for American post player Trudy Walker (180-F, college: Jacksonville) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 rebounds (!!!), 10 points and 3 assists. Her fellow American Jayneisha Davis (170-G, college: Messiah) accounted for 13 points and 4 rebounds for the winning side. Denver forward Calisha Clark (181-F/G-1984) came up with a solid game by scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds in the defeat.

Hidalgas de Santiago - Uprise Fenix 86-56


The hosting Hidalgas de Santiago (1-0) roll pass Uprise Fenix (0-1). The Dominican club looked in prime form with a 86-56 win Thursday night. Hidalgas made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Fenix players. The best player for the winners was Dominican forward Jennifer Pena (176-G/F-1993, college: Missouri S&T) who had a great game by scoring 20 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 blocks. Her fellow American import guard Toynetta Johnson (172-PG-1992, college: UWF) chipped in 2 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists!! Hellary Santos (185-G-2002) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the win. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Myah Taylor (178-F-1997, college: Bethel, TN) who recorded 16 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds in a losing effort.

Flint Monarchs - Santiago Basket 96-51

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santiago Basket (0-1) in Sameji on Tuesday night. Home club were defeated by Flint Monarchs (1-0) 96-51. The Monarchs made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also outrebounded Santiago 55-21 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for WNBA Player Crystal Bradford (183-F-1993, college: CMU) who led her team to a victory scoring 27 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. American guard Asia Boyd (185-F-1992, college: Kansas) helped adding 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Porsche Poole (175-SG-1989, college: Michigan St.) with a near triple-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Poole dazzled the fans in the first half with amazing moves and scoring; but she could not hold off the powerful American Flint Monarchs.
