Monarchs and Immortals win Women's United Cup 2023 opener

The Regular Season in United Cup just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Indias at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were rolled over by Immortals64-39. Immortals held Indias to an opponent 11.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Immortals had a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kristina Puthoff-King (180-1992, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Her fellow American import swingman Jennifer Pena (175-1993, college: Missouri S&T) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Immortals' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Nayely Morillo (166-1999) answered with 15 points for Indias. Immortals is looking forward to face Lady Monarchs in Flint in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Indias will play at home against Fenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.


Another interesting game for American Lady Monarchs which played in Santiago against Dominican Rep. Fenix. Lady Monarchs crushed hosts 70-49. Center Khaalia Hillsman (195-1996, college: Texas A&M) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Ameryst Alston chipped in 22 points. At the losing side swingman Yadira Polanco (178-1992) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Fenix's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lady Monarchs will play against Immortals in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fenix will play against Indias and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
