Flint outscored Toronto in the opening game in Toulouse Thursday afternoon. Jasmine McCall (170-G-87, college: Wayne St., MI) posted 18 points to lead the winners. Flint jumped to a 28:9 lead after the opening frame. Toronto narrowed the deficit in the next periods. They got within striking distance late in regulation but could not overcome the hurdle as the Americans opened the game up securing the win. The Monarchs would pull away and completely dominate the Canadians 102-60 in the final period. Shareta Brown (187-F/C-93, college: Wayne St., MI) netted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Kayli Sartori (185-F/C-93, college: UFV) tossed in 18 points for Toronto.
Atlanta Ambassadors - MSP Rheinstars Bergische Loewen 74-97
MSP Rheinstars Bergische Loewen open up 1-0 in France as they storm over the Atlanta Ambassadors 97-74. At the start it seemed to be a close basketball game. The action continued back and forth as the two clubs battled for the lead in the first half. But the German club would pull away after a great display of team defense. Kama Griffitts (183-F-91, college: Arizona) (29) and Sequoia Holmes (183-F/G-86, college: UNLV) (27) Holmes scored 25+ points and pulled down a collective 12 rebounds for the winners. Germany established a 40:32 rebounding lead. Kristina King (180-G-92, college: Richmond) had a near triple double with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists in the victory. Carrie Washington (183-F/C-94, college: Columbus St.) responded with 12 points and 15 rebounds for Atlanta.
Group B
Toulouse - Sheffield Bulldogs 86-79
Toulouse MB held off Sheffield to open win count in Group B. Lucie Carlier (187-F-90) tossed in 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds to lead the effort. Carlier was the difference in the game scoring 5 three pointers late in the second half to put the game away. Toulouse also received a lot of fire power from their youth players. Noemie Brochant (178-F-99) continues to grow and develop for TMB. She was very impressive with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the win. Breana Bey (175-F-95, college: Stetson) notched 19 points for Sheffield.
